Halloween – Love it or hate it?

Halloween – Love it or hate it?

Ah, Halloween….that time of the year when adults get permission to be someone entirely different from themselves. Or is it? We can let a part of our personality come alive that often stays hidden in the shadows. Sometimes maybe it feels safer to keep parts of ourselves under wraps. If we tend to be shy and reserved, perhaps for Halloween we will choose a costume that lets our inner wild child come alive. Or perhaps we dress as our hero, someone we idolize, or an occupation we wish we had. Musician, anyone? For other people they tend to hate Halloween, maybe they feel pressure to find the perfect costume, or they think it’s silly and just don’t want to be bothered with being in a costume.

Whether you love it or hate it, why wait for Halloween to be the full version of who you are? Wouldn’t it be great if we let all the parts of our personality integrate into our day-to-day life and not wait till Halloween or any other time in our life? There’s no need to keep parts of ourselves tucked away only to come out once a year.  When you connect with a therapist, you can discover parts of yourself that maybe you didn’t know existed because they were buried for so long.
